Welcome

The Department of Economics (in Spanish, Departamento de Teoría e Historia Económica) at the Universidad de Granada is a research-oriented center. Our aim is to achieve the highest standards both in research and teaching. We strongly support our members' academic careers, and we provide a work environment that stimulates research and interaction.

As part of our research activities, the Department holds a regular seminar series with international speakers. It also publishes a working paper series which are intended to disseminate our research advances. The Department has also organized several workshops and international conferences such as the 16th European Meeting on Game Theory in 2021, the Annual Meeting Association of Southern European Economic Theorists in 2015, or the Symposium of the Spanish Economic Association in 2007.

The core of the Department consists of about 25 full-time professors, whose research fields cover the following areas:

The Department has two areas: Foundations of Economic Analysis and History and Economic Institutions. Both areas cooperate in the common goals of the Department, but they are free to separately manage their teaching duties, hiring processes, and resources.
